REVIEW: su:m37 Water-full Line

su:m 37 is a higher end skincare brand from LG Household & Healthcare LTD, a branch of LG electronics. Having been impressed by other su:m37 products I've tried before, like the Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick and Time Resetting Skin Softening Emulsion, I had pretty high hopes for the Water-full Line.  After religiously testing it out on my skin for the last several weeks, I've put together a small summary of each product in the line with the exception of the Water-full serum which I don't have.

su:m 37 Water-full Skin Refresher

This is a simple toner that should be used after cleansing.  As a toner, it helps to restore your skin's much needed moisture and pH balance after cleansing, which often strips away the skin's natural oils.  It's also important to use toner to prepare the skin for the rest of the products in your skincare routine.  

Product Features

The product contains fermented bamboo sap which is a well-known ingredient in Asian skincare. Bamboo extracts contain a naturally abundant amount of the mineral silica, which can promote skin strength and hair growth.  Bamboo is also a natural anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and in some research studies, extracts are shown to have anti-cancer properties in mice test subjects. 

According to su:m 37 marketing materials, the fermented bamboo sap is absorbed instantly into the skin to calm and moisturize it after cleansing.

Overall Impression

This isn't my favourite toner of all time and it's quite pricey for what it does.  There's some amount of alcohol in the formulation, which may irritate dry or sensitive skin.  However, it hasn't bothered me much but then again my skin type is closer to combination skin.  The toner smells really fresh, adding a touch of aromatherapy to my skincare routine which I really appreciate during hot and humid days.  I've already finished one whole bottle, and I do notice that without it my skin is a bit more dull and dry, but other than that, I haven't noticed significant improvements to my skin's texture.  Overall, this toner does the job of any other one I've tried before.  

su:m 37 Water-full Rebalancing Gel Lotion 

This gel lotion is used after the toner step in the Water-full line. It has a light, fresh scent and contains many of the star ingredients that this line boasts, such as fermented bamboo sap, red clover flower extract, hisbiscus flower extract, and gold-silver flower extract.

Product Features

As mentioned earlier, the gel lotion contains many extracts to promote skin health by providing moisture, minimizing the appearance of pores, strengthening the skin's structure, and so forth.  The lotion itself has a light gel texture and goes on the skin smoothly and absorbing quickly.  The gel-lotion is meant to increase the moisture of your skin without added oiliness.

Overall Impression 

This is actually quite a nice lotion for any skin type and routine.  It's light, not overpowering, moisturizing, and gentle.  I've enjoyed using this quite a lot on my combination skin and I can see myself using this well into the warmer, more humid summer months.  The scent is nice, light, and fresh and the product absorbs quite nicely into my skin.  However, I haven't noticed any increased "skin vitality", that is, there hasn't been any noticeable visible improvement to my skin. But my skin does feel better and well moisturized. 

 su:m 37 Water-full Timeless Moisturizing Cream 

This is one of the two final step moisturizers in the Water-full line.  The other one is the gel-cream version for oily skin types.  This one, on the other hand, is suitable for more dry skin or as a winter moisturizer for combination/dry/normal skin types. 

Product Features

It's a beautifully designed round bottle with a spatula that is magnetized to the top of the lid.  This helps users from losing the spatula and looks quite pretty too. See the first photo on top for reference since this one above doesn't show the spatula.

Overall Impression

This moisturizing cream is best suited for normal to dry skin types looking for extra protection in the winter season.  I regret purchasing this one because it's a bit thick in consistency, so it sits on my skin longer than I'd prefer.  It also doesn't absorb well. However, I bought it cause I wanted something to protect my dry cheeks and chin area during the winter months in Eastern Canada which was where I was living at the time.  Now that I've moved back to Vancouver, where the air isn't as dry, and the days are becoming warmer so this cream is now unsuitable for daily use.  I still use it from time to time as a night cream, but during the day I've switched to a gel cream.

One major criticism on the bottle design is how hard it is to twist open/close. To open or close the lid, I have to twist it pretty hard and since the jar is pretty big for my hands, I find it difficult to do so.  Once my hands get covered in the cream post-application on my face, it literally becomes a slip and slide trying to get the jar closed!
